October Newsletter

October is the month of the Rosary.  After the liturgy, the rosary is   held as of our greatest scriptural prayers.  The mysteries of the rosary focus on the central events in the lives of Jesus and Mary.  Learn more about this time honored Catholic tradition at –

Our new Kaleidoscope classrooms have been completed – and we love them!  We moved into our two new classrooms on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, located at  the end of the Middle School wing.  Mrs. McKeever, Ms. DeLuca, and their Kaleidoscope students wish to express their gratitude  for the beautiful new space created for them. Going forward, they will no longer hold their classes in the auditorium balcony.  Thank you, Fr. Joe!

Rediker.  According to our   program, we have  67 families that have not activated their Rediker accounts.  Creating a Rediker account is mandatory for monitoring your child’s educational progress,  as well as for emergency communications.  If you need assistance, please  call Mrs. Neglia 973-779-4700.

Mid Term and Final Exams.  Beginning January 2019, the Prep will transition to a midterm and final exam schedule.  This will allow our students the opportunity to  experience what will be expected of them during our standardized testing.  As always, the students will  be made aware of when the exam will be administered,   in addition to the scope of the exam, therefore,  Saint Philip Preparatory School does not utilize “study guides.”  Students are responsible to have the necessary materials to effectively prepare for the exams.

Classwork and Homework are major components to your child’s academic progress at Saint Philip Preparatory School.  Earning   an incomplete on classwork or homework will unquestionably impact the report card grade.  Parents please encourage your children to be responsible when completing or handing in their schoolwork.

Label, label, label.  Please remember to label all clothing, Books, supplies and other belongings, with your child’s name and grade.  Items that are found will be sent to our Lost and Found, located on the auditorium balcony.

Smile!  Wednesday, October 17th is Picture Day for Grades PK-8.  Please follow the instructions as per the Lifetouch school picture packet  sent home this week.

Parking Lot Etiquette. . Please review the following safety tips to help us ensure the safety of your children  coming to and from school:

You may drop   off at the auditorium  door or park in the lot an walk your child to the door.

  • When  your child has exited your car please drive away SLOWLY, and stay in the lane.  Do not try to go around the car in front of you.  It is only one lane for safety.
  • The bell rings at 8:00 AM.  The door WILL CLOSE.  Do not knock on the door as we have begun our  morning assembly.  You are then late, go to the  entrance doors.
  • For pick-up, please park in a legal spot, where you are  not blocking other cars or  more importantly, emergency vehicles.
  • Always have patience and model kindness.  Thank you for your continued cooperation

Halloween!  Wednesday, October 31st, Saint Philip Preparatory School  will celebrate Halloween.  Students in grades  PK3 through Grade 3 may come to school dressed  in costume.  Grades 4 through 8 will bring their costumes to school and change after lunch period.  Parents, please encourage your child to choose an appropriate costume for school.   At approximately 12:45 PM, we will have our traditional Halloween Parade, which all are invited to attend – great photo  opts!  The students will parade around the main parking lot for all to see!  After the parade the students only, will return to their classrooms for parties.  Please contact your child’s homeroom teacher before sending in treats for the celebration.  If they have not been cleared by the teacher, we will not distribute, we will send them home with your child.
