November 2018

Thanksgiving Food Drive

The Community of Saint Philip the Apostle Parish and Preparatory School will be holding their annual food drive this month. Our parish community has a long history of service through ministry, especially in the area of feeding those in need at Thanksgiving. We will not be collecting food but rather taking free-will donations that will be converted into food gift certificate cards. A free-will donation envelope will be distributed to each child. Please return your envelope to the main office by November 16th. Thank you for your generosity.

Veterans Day Assembly

On Monday, November 12th Saint Philip Preparatory School will devote our Morning Assembly to the Veterans of our country. We shall honor all Veterans past and present, with a special Prayer Service. Our school will celebrate Thanksgiving on Wednesday, November 21st at the 9AM mass in St. Philip Church. All are welcome to worship with us, as we thank God for His many, many blessings. Coats and Hats…etc.

It’s that time of year again. Fresh air and exercise are healthy for the children. Therefore, the children will go out everyday if the weather permits. Please be mindful of the weather. Some days are rather chilly and your child may need more than just a sweater or sweatshirt. All the children like to play outside, but they must be properly dressed to enjoy their playtime. Remember: LABEL EVERYTHING!

Also, please do not tell you child to “stay in for lunchtime recess.” Everyone must go outside at lunchtime recess. If your child must stay indoors, please submit a doctor’s note describing the need and duration. Please address all notes to Nurse Denise.

SPPS Spirit Wear

As the weather is now turning a bit more chilly a reminder to all our students and parents: Our students are always welcome to wear their Spirit Wear sweatshirts throughout the school day. Saint Philip sweatshirts or Saint Philip school sweaters are permissible parts of the uniform and may be worn daily. Other sweatshirts or sweaters are not part of our school uniform and may be worn outside only.

Give thanks to the Lord for He is good;

His love endures forever.

-Psalm 118

Happy Thanksgiving!
