Volunteering your time is truly a gift that we are thankful for at Saint Philip Prep. Our school and children are fortunate that dedicated adults are willing to give so freely of such a precious resource.
The Diocese of Paterson requires all volunteers and/or employees who have regular contact with children and minors to complete a three step approval process. Below are the process requirements and how to fulfill them.
YOU MUST COMPLETE ALL THREE STEPS TO BE APPROVED TO WORK and/or VOLUNTEER.
Complete and sign the Sterling Consent Form for an Internet Background Check
You must complete and sign the Sterling Consent Form for an Internet Background Check. A signature is required on both pages. Upon completion, return it to your Local Coordinator.
YOU MAY NOT VOLUNTEER/WORK UNTIL THIS IS COMPLETED BY THE LOCAL COORDINATOR AND YOU ARE CLEAR OF A CRIMINAL HISTORY.
(Note: If you are a School Employee/Educator, you will need to be fingerprinted as well by the NJ State Department of Education. Please see your Local Coordinator for specific forms and instructions.)
Read the “Code of Pastoral Conduct” and sign the Acknowledgement and Compliance page. You are accountable for your behavior and must follow the Code of Conduct. Return the signed and dated acknowledgement form to your Local Coordinator.
Finally, once you have been cleared through an Internet Background Check, you have 90 days to attend a Virtus Class – “Protecting God’s Children”. To view the schedule of classes and register, go to the website: www.virtusonline.org. On the left side of the screen, click on REGISTRATION. Start the process of registration, by following the prompts. After you have attended the class, please present your certificate to the Local Coordinator.
